Classes and Activities for Kids & Teens
At MODA, we recognize that kids are some of the best designers among us. We think that given the opportunity to play and learn about design in a welcoming and encouraging space like MODA, kids can do (and make) great things.
Calling all young inventors ages 5-10 years old! Join us for a special workshop with guest invention educator Deepti Suchindran. During this workshop we invite you to think about what your future world and life will look like. What sort of objects will you use in your daily life? How will you play or get around? What will you eat and drink? What will you wear? Join us in this workshop to play, design and invent using tons of different materials.
Learn the basics of 3D modeling by making some 3D jewelry. In this workshop students will get to create a unique design for a pendant to get 3D printed. Come with a few ideas and we’ll show you how to make your design a reality. We will walk you through the basics of a beginner-friendly, browser-based 3D modeling program called Tinkercad. You’ll learn all you’ll need to know to design your pendant and have it printed.
The second Sunday of every month is Design Club Day at the Museum of Design Atlanta, when we open our doors to the public for a free day of design for all. Let’s come together and be thankful and grateful! On November 10th we invite you to come check out our exhibit, get inspired and design your own poster to show the world what you are grateful for. We will be using a basic in the world of graphic design - GRIDS - to help us layout our posters. Graphic designers use grids to organize to the content, and provide structure for the viewer. Come learn, make and design with us.
Turn your world into a skatepark by learning how to design a finger skateboard! Learn the process of designing skateboards from start to finish through this hands on camp. Explore designing for concrete, wood, and metal, partnered with digital fabrication like 3D printing, and CNC cutting! Build a new tiny skateboard each day, and contribute to the collaborative skatepark that will eventually reside next to the Old 4th Ward Skatepark off of the Beltline! Come one or all three days for a different experience!
Join us for a multitiered morning of Minecraft. We’ll design on the MODA server making code, structures, and games. Then, test your strategic skills with a sustainable survival challenge. This camp is perfect for ages 7-13.
The second Sunday of every month is Design Club Day at the Museum of Design Atlanta, when we open our doors to the public for a free day of design for all.
